What is a salicylic acid or Beta peel ?
The concept of peeling the skin to improve the texture, smoothen and beautify it has been used since ancient times. In ancient Egypt, Cleopatra used sour milk, now known to contain lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid while French women used old wine containing tartaric acid, to enhance the appearance of the skin.
Chemical peel or chemical exfoliation is basically a process done by caustic agents to accelerate shedding of the layers of skin, depth depending upon the type of peel. Most commonly used agents are glycolic acid, salicylic acid, TCA peel etc.
Salicylic acid is a superficial peel. It is a beta hydroxy acid that sloughs away the dead cells.
Salicylic acid peels are used to acheive in a drastic improvement in acne vulgaris, hyperpigmentation (dark spots), rough texture, oily skin, and photodamage (sun damage).

The key ingredient of the beta peel range is salicylic acid which has been placed in a self-neutralising base. The beta peel range is designed to create peeling of the skin and is focused on the treatment of pigmentation irregularities which include solar pigmentation, melasma and post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation conditions. The beta peel has an unprecedented safety profile which is a relief for darker skin types.
In addition to this the beta peel range is very effective in the treatment of congested skin and acne. This range may only be used by your Lamelle accredited Specialist or Aesthetic Doctor. The beta peel range consists of different concentrations of salicylic acid and will be discussed below.
The Beta peel range is a light superficial chemical exfoliation and the concentrations vary between 15%, 20% and 30%. The differences between the percentages indicated the depth of penetration. Beta peel 30% is classified as a medical chemical peel.
Beta Peel is a light superficial chemical exfoliation which contains Salicylic acid in a self neutralizing base. Beta peel assists in impurity removal and is brilliant for hyper-pigmentation due to salicylic acid being known for it's anti inflammatory properties.
